DRAMA AND MUSIC GAMES FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING

This is an innovative course designed to enhance language acquisition through dynamic and engaging activities. Participants explore the intersection of drama, music, and language learning, discovering how these creative mediums can enrich the language learning experience.

 

COURSE VENUE: 

Nicosia, Cyprus. During the course there might be some visits in schools with transportation included in the fees.

 

OBJECTIVES:

  • To offer an inside of how drama pedagogy can be applied to school subjects specifically to foreign language teaching

  • To effectively practice theatre techniques and games that can be applied in their classroom environment

  • Focus on drama methodology; improvisations, verbal-non verbal playing techniques, singing, singing games, music and rhythmic activities which can be applied in various contexts in language teaching

  • To create lesson plans and design workshops that will benefit and target their learners

METHOD:

Through lectures, workshops, discussions and demonstrations participants of this course will be encouraged to learn, explore, showcase their own work, and think outside the box regarding the integration of drama and music games to achieve foreign language learning.

DAY TO DAY SCHEDULE:

Day 1

  • Welcoming and teambuilding activities

  • Presentation of participants and organizations

  • Introduction to the subject

Day 2

  • Theory Behind the power of Arts

  • CLIL – Content an Language integrated learning

  • Music for foreign language learning

  • Drama games for foreign language learning - Vocabulary

Day 3

  • Improvisation and controlled activities

  • Verbal and Non-Verbal communication

  • The power of songs in language learning

  • The phonetic understanding of language through singing

Day 4

  • Empathy and critical thinking – Human Interaction

  • Story telling for language learning

  • Role play - The use of the technology in language learning

Day 5

  • Motivation

  • Setting up a lesson plan

  • Discussion

  • Improvement/ Evaluation feedback. 

  • Award Ceremony
