Teach with Music and Art​

Are you a teacher with no music or art knowledge? You can still integrate music and art in your lesson plans and achieve higher classroom engagement, students' motivation and more interactive teaching. This course is designed for educators who want to find out about benefits of music and art and their engagement in their daily life at school. It is a course that goes in depth in various subjects and analyzes different ways to approach curriculum subjects through music making and art creations. Music and Art can be a medium to bring better academic results in your classroom.

COURSE VENUE: 

Nicosia, Cyprus. During the course there might be some visits in schools, with transportation integrated in the fees.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• To explore the role of art and music in enhancing the learning experience

• To understand how art and music can be integrated into various subjects and teaching methodologies

• To develop practical strategies for incorporating art and music into lesson plans

• To foster creativity and critical thinking skills through artistic and musical expression

• To create a supportive learning environment where students can engage with art and music to deepen their understanding of academic concepts

METHODS:

Through lectures, workshops, discussions and demonstrations participants of this course will be encouraged to learn, explore, showcase their own work, and think outside the box regarding the integration of art and music in the classroom.

DAY TO DAY SCHEDULE:

Day 1

• Introduction to the course objectives and outline

• Lecture: Understanding the benefits of integrating art and music in teaching

• Workshop: Exploring different art forms and musical genres

• Discussion: Sharing personal experiences and expectations for the course

Day 2

• Lecture: Theoretical foundations of arts education and music education

• Workshop: Hands-on activities to explore the connections between art, music, and learning

• Assignment: Reflective journal entry on personal insights gained from the workshop

Day 3

• Lecture: Strategies for integrating art and music across various subjects

• Workshop: Creating lesson plans that incorporate art and music elements

• Discussion: Sharing and peer-reviewing lesson plans

Day 4

• Assignment: Design a creative project integrating art and music into a specific subject area

Day 5

• Presentation: Participants present their creative projects to the class

• Feedback Session: Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement
